The campaign which commences with a series of road shows around the UK aims to promote best practice and innovation in sustainability and provides the opportunity for health workers across the country to participate in networking and learning activities to develop their own sustainable initiatives.

Nuala Gilmartin, business development manager for Carillion Health said: “We are very pleased to continue our support for NHS Sustainability Day. Sustainability has become an increasingly important part of all aspects of Carillion’s business activities. We are delighted to have the opportunity to share our experiences and to learn from others through the NHS Sustainability Day programme of events.”

Scott Buckler from 4 All of Us social enterprise added: “Last year’s campaign was a great success with NHS Trusts up and down the country getting involved in activities to embed sustainability in their practices. Building on this success, we are hoping this year’s campaign will be even bigger and better to drive positive social, environmental and economic outcomes across the NHS”.

The first regional road show took place in Leeds hosted by NHS Employers, the event which took place at Horizon focussed on staff engagement around sustainability and featured a session hosted by Carillion’s HR business partner Jeanette Hinds.

The remaining road shows which are free to attend for NHS staff each focus on a different aspect of sustainable development within healthcare practice addressing the challenges and achievements along the way and will be taking place as follows:

• Liverpool – 13th November 2014
• Coventry – 15th January 2015
• Gloucester – 5th February 2015
• London – 25th February 2015
