Carillion supports local NHS Sustainability Roadshow 2014

Leading Support services company Carillion is pleased to announce that it will be supporting the NHS Sustainability roadshows organised by Barts NHS Trust and 4 All of Us Social Enterprise. The local events will be held at a number of locations around the country, culminating in the annual NHS Sustainability Day, 27 March 2014.

Featuring guest speakers from Carillion, the NHS and public health, the roadshows will provide an opportunity for healthcare organisations to engage with their fellow Trusts and learn about new areas within sustainability, whilst also sharing best practice success stories.

Nuala Gilmartin, Business Development at Carillion Services commented; “The first official roadshow took place on Thursday 3 October 2013 at Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust. Guests were able to enjoy a day of networking and thought provoking presentations from a variety of speakers looking at areas including how health and sustainability are connected, sustainability in practice and what sustainability means to the public – as well as how the NHS Sustainability Day will benefit local health care organisations and the community as a whole.”

Nuala concludes: “Sustainability within the NHS is an area which has become an increasing focus over the past five years, thanks to the establishment of the NHS Sustainable Development Unit. Here at Carillion, we are looking forward to supporting and generating as much enthusiasm and awareness for the NHS Sustainability Day as possible. We are committed to sustainability and have enjoyed great success with our initiatives to date where we have engaged with staff, visitors, patients and the local community – all helping to contribute to making tomorrow a better place.”

The main NHS Sustainability Day will see NHS organisations across the country participate in activities and events to promote sustainable practice. Demonstrating how a sustainable future can benefit everyone, topics covered will include the promotion of healthy lifestyles, waste and energy reduction and education, support and training in local communities.

Carillion will be offering further support to NHS Sustainability Day 2014 by undertaking a series of local activities across numerous hospitals to showcase and share best practice.
