Creating a healthier place to breathe

Air pollution is the second biggest public health issue in the UK after smoking.  Our ambition at GAP is to educate and empower people to move towards a low emission society – helping everyone to live longer, healthier lives.

Our Clean Air Action programmes work with Local Authorities, the health sector and businesses to:

  1. Increase awareness of air pollution
  2. Enthuse communities to accept and adopt changes that will improve the air that they breathe
  3. Build confidence in practical actions that people can take to protect themselves from the worst air pollution
  4. Empower people to take action to reduce air pollution

Our pioneering cross-sector Cleaner Air for East London programme delivered in collaboration with Barts Health NHS Trust is captured in this short video.

The programme was cited as an example of best practice by the Royal College of Physicians and sparked an Action on Air Pollution report here.

Our #noidling Clean Air Action Days caught the attention of over 3 million people on social media. For more information on this and all of our Clean Air Action programmes, click here.
