Get Energy Smart

A key date in the NHS calendar is NHS Sustainability Day, a national day across the health sector where organisations take action to highlight the importance of sustainable development.

As part of this day we have developed a new campaign called Get Energy Smart. This campaign aims to support you and your organisation to raise awareness of NHS Sustainability Day and of the small steps staff can take at work and at home to help make a difference. Energy saving measures alone across the NHS have already saved £1.85bn since 2007 and our campaign resources will provide you with everything you need to run a local campaign, encouraging NHS employees to be more considered with their energy usage both in the workplace and at home by taking small actions such as closing windows and doors, turning off IT equipment when not in use and installing a smart energy meter.

We have developed a range of tools and resources to help you do this, including a communications toolkit, infographic, web banners and posters.
