New energy plan at St George’s Hospital can save up to £1m a year

St George’s Hospital in London has signed an Energy Performance Contract with British Gas in a deal that could reduce energy use by a quarter and cut more than 6,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

The deal involves a loan of £12m which will enable the installation of a range of new equipment.

The energy saving developments includes combined heat and power (CHP) boilers, absorption chillers, solar photovoltaics, steam system modifications and a range of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning changes.

British Gas is delivering the project with London-based partner Breathe Energy.
