The Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen NHS Trust took part in the NHS Sustainability Day on Thursday 27 March 2014, with an exhibition in the main reception of the Royal.
There were numerous exhibition stands including innovative technologies, health & wellbeing and the new Royal hospital including many of its sustainable design features, local regeneration pledges and employment initiatives. The stands were manned by the Trust, Carillion (new hospital contractor), as well as various suppliers including Dalkia, Energy Project Plus, United Utilities, ERS Medical, SRCL and Arfon Rewinds.
A quiz on sustainability was also held as part of the event with the following prizes.
- First prize – £500 bike voucher (Donated by Vinci Construction);
- Second prize – Eco Kettle (Donated by ERS Medical);
- Third prize – Eon powerdown, Intelliplug and Enviroplug (Donated by Energy Project Plus).; and
- Fourth Prize – Collapsible watering can (Donated by United Utilities)
The lucky winner of the bike is now cycling to work, a carbon success and a health & wellbeing success.
The event was well attended and Judith Greensmith (Trust Chair & Sustainability Champion) and Aidan Kehoe (CEO) took the opportunity to speak to all stakeholders taking part in the event.
